More Excellent Way offers Person-Centered AFC Residential Programs that supports Person-Centered Care, Planning, Treatment and Advocacy. Our Programs assist the Resident in achieving goals in all major areas of their life including Mental, Physical, Educational, Social, Behavioral and Living Skills. Residential day to day living provides our staff with the opportunity to observe firsthand the growth and development of the individual in the Person-Centered Program. We promote self-care, self-direction, economic self-reliance, and the capacity for independent living. Many Developmentally Disabled Individuals have come a long way in achieving wellbeing and quality of life through Person Centered Planning and State Mental Health resources. Many Recipients are flourishing and living active, high functioning, self-motivated productive lives in AFC Person-Centered Group Homes. Through Person-Centered Planning every individual works on their own personal goals to achieve his or her desired future through emotional healing and growing self-esteem.
Our AFC Programs promotes independence and self-reliance. With the help of AFC staff many Residents are employed outside the home. They learn to complete their own resumes, obtain their own birth certificate, State ID, and social security Card. They apply for jobs and are often hired into employer programs designed specifically for the disabled population. They open up their own bank accounts to deposit their checks from their jobs. They enjoy their occupations and feel valued and respected in the workforce. Our AFC Programs assures the adequacy and appropriateness of the living environment. Despite their Developmental Disabilities, Residents in our Person-Centered Group Homes spend their days leading meaningful productive lives such attending school, work, social activities, community events and volunteering. Each Resident belongs to a church of their choice where they feel valued as a member. Residents bond with each other and develop trusting friendships. They lead active social lives and regularly participates in and contributes to community activities and events. They enjoy group home outings, traveling, cultural arts shows, craft shows, summer fairs, bible camps, Michigan Adventure, Craig's Cruiser, JJ Horse Range, pizza, cinema movies, group luncheons, dinners, holidays, special occasions, and birthday celebrations. Through our Person-Centered approach everyone can thrive in a stimulating, caring, stable, home where they can function at their highest state of mental and physical abilities.
